Once again, it was about time to do another "impossible" retrofit.
The SQ5 is from 2018, meaning it has the first generation Virtual Cockpit and the MIB2 Navigation system, so it was about time to test if the new MIB2P Navigation and the second generation Virtual Cockpit and 10.1" Touch screen were possible to install.
The challenge in such a project is first if the parts will fit in the car, which was reasonably easy even though the parts were expensive.
New trim was required, along with some parts from the 2021 Q5.
The second and biggest challenge is making the new system communicate with the car and the rest of the car's control units.
As the car is well-equipped with systems like B&O Soundsystem, 360 / Overview camera system, memory/massage seats, and Air suspension, I had to be sure that all these systems could communicate with the new MMI system.
I spent a lot of time making all the systems communicate with each other, and after a week of dedicated work, it finally worked out.
The next part was to make sure all menus were unlocked, such as the RS designs in the new Virtual Cockpit and, of course, all RS screens in the MMI system.
The MIB2P System has many excellent features such as the 10.1 Touch Screen (the MMI panel was removed), Wireless CarPlay, the new Cockpit and, of course, the heated RS6 C8 steering wheel.
Was it worth it? Definitely.
